Art fun

This term we are learning about famous artists for our art topic.  We are learning about the different styles of famous artists and also how they produce their art works.  We are also linking our art learning with ICT.

On Friday we learned about Lucy Cousins who is famous for writing Maisy Mouse books.

We watched this You Tube clip of Lucy Cousins talking about her art work.

We discovered that Lucy Cousins always draws Maisy Mouse in pencil first.  She starts with her ears.  She always uses bright colours and the only colour she mixes is the pink for Maisy's ears, tail, hands, feet and whiskers.

Lucy Cousins make a black outline of Maisy Mouse and paints up to it with bright colours.  She only uses one colour in her background and she always uses square paper.

We read some Maisy Mouse books and watched a movie clip.

Then we worked very hard to be artists like Lucy Cousins.
We had a square piece of paper and drew Maisy Mouse with a pencil- starting with her ears.

We used bright coloured crayons to colour our picture in and then we chose one colour to be the background, it was hard work colouring in the whole background but we showed our school values and kept on going until it was finished.

We are also trying to link our art work to ICT tools.  With this lesson we used You Tube as a way to learn more about Lucy Cousins and then we used the ipad to create some outstanding artworks.
We each had a turn (or will have a turn next week!) to draw Maisy Mouse on the ipad using an app called Doodle.  We used a black pencil to be the outline and then we coloured it in in bright colours.  We wrote our name and saved our art work.  Mrs Pelham will print our pictures out so we can display them with our drawings.

We are very proud of this art work- what do you think?
