Signs of Spring

Today we went on an adventure looking for signs of spring.

We walked around the school and looked for spring things like daffodils, bird nests, blossom and new leaves.  We listened for the sound of birds chirping and we enjoyed feeling the warmer sun on us.

We came back to our classroom and wrote some outstanding stories about our spring experiences.

Today Haruno from Room 8 brought her beautiful kimonos to share with her class.  We were so lucky as she brought them to our class to share with us too.

Don't the girls look beautiful?

Thank you Room 8 for sharing your learning with us and for teaching us about Japan too- we learned lots of interesting information.

Pasta is from Italy

Today we were learning about foods from around the world.
We learned that pasta is a famous food from Italy.

We cooked some dinosaur pasta and then we ate it with some sauce.

It tasted wonderful.

We came inside and thought about some excellent words to describe the pasta and how it tasted.  We really enjoyed it and thought of some brilliant words.  Have a look at the display in our classsroom to see what we did!

Blowing Bubbles

Today we went outside and blew some bubbles.
We all had our own bubble mix and a bubble wand.

We blew some fantastic bubbles.
We caught our bubbles on our bubble wands.
We had a competition to see who could blow the most bubbles, the biggest bubbles, the bubble that flew the furthest.

We discovered that bubbles are always round even if the bubble wand is a different shape like a star.

We came inside and wrote fantastic stories.

Bubbles here,
Bubbles there,
Bubbles, bubbles
Everywhere!

"I liked the bubbles to pop all around me," said Kai Ying.
"I liked the bubbles on my hand," said Melad.
"I liked the bubbles popping everywhere on my face," said Josh.
"I liked the bubbles popping," said Ava.
"I liked popping the bubbles," said Charlotte.
"I liked the bubbles popping on my wand," said Ollie.
"I liked putting my bubbles on my wand and balancing them," said Tane.
"I liked blowing the bubbles," said Max.
"I liked blowing the bubbles," said Jarod.
"The bubbles were on my hair!" said Che.
"It was fun to catch the bubbles on the bubble wands," said Bailey.

Pikelets....YUM

Today we had a very busy Discovery Time.  We all enjoyed the choices we had to work with and had a lot of fun making and doing new things!

We had the outside area to work with this week too as it was so sunny....what a treat!

We had box models to build with, we had bubbles, chalk, hoops and balls and we were even allowed to play on the Little A.

We used the marble run, gears and did some card making too.

At the Classroom Cafe this week we made pikelets and then we spread our own butter, jam and vegemite onto them.....they were delicious!  We discovered that when the bubbles pop the pikelets are ready to turn over....we also discovered it is important to make sure we don't touch the electric frypan as it gets really hot!

Have a look at some of the fun we had.

Josh's Amazing Home Work

WOW, look at what Josh made at home.

Josh's Mum took lots of photos of Josh around the house.  Josh made this fantastic poster and wrote the words beside each picture.

Thanks for sharing your learning with us Josh, we think you are AWESOME.

wwwwwwwww wands

Today is w day.  We made wands.
First we had to colour our star in.
Then we had to cut it out.  Cutting out is quite tricky.  We discovered it is easier to move the paper around when we cut.
We twisted a pipecleaner to make the handle for our wand.
Then we added glue and glitter.....it was messy fun!

We also learned how to read and write the word today.

We know 'w' sounds like wwwwwwwwww
wet and windy, wwwww
www is the sound that w makes.

Welcome to Charlotte and Ethan

Today Charlotte and Ethan are visiting our classroom.

They have both done Quality Writing.  We can't wait for them to turn five so they can come to school every day.

Peg Leg Comes to Room 10

WOW, how exciting.  We have been working hard to keep our classroom tidy.  We won Peg Leg at assembly.

We are very proud.  We even got to do a parade in assembly.

We were allowed to eat them!

There were lots of different shapes and two flavours.

Rachel's Mum and Dad come from America so she brought Jello Jigglers for J day and because it was a way to share some of her special family culture with us.
