Congratulations Imogen

Today Imogen received our class award in assembly for the outstanding progress she is making in reading.

Imogen, I am so proud of the way you think about your reading and you fix up mistakes all by yourself too.  You are learning to read so many words.  I'm really proud of you.

Assembly Stars

Room 10, I was so proud of you today.

You presented an awesome assembly.  You did so well up on the stage and it was amazing to see so many parents there to support you too.  What a class of stars.

Assembly was particularly fantastic because I have been away all week and you had very little time to practice.

I love the way you danced and sang our class song and that you all spoke so clearly into the microphone.  Well done my little treasures.

Fantastic Reading Bailey and Josh

Bailey has completed his first 25 nights of reading- wow, Bailey, you are so new to school and reading so well.  I am very proud of the way you are learning so many words and that you are thinking carefully about how to solve new words.  Great reading Bailey.

Josh has been reading for 75 nights!  That's a lot of reading Josh, and you are a super reader too.  I love listening to your excitement as you read.  Well done for working so hard Josh.

Picasso the Artist

Today we learned about Picasso - a famous artist.

We learned about his famous artworks.
We discovered he was a very good painter.  He was even better than his Dad!
Picasso sold his first famous painting when he was 12 years old.

"He does good paintings," said Kai Ying.
"He is a famous artist," said Lily.
"He made money from his pictures," said Alaanah.
"His paintings are worth millions of dollars now," said Amelia.
"He is way, way, way better than any artist," said Eve.

Today for our art we studied a painting called A Handful of Flowers by Picasso.
We made our own artworks to look like Picasso's.

What do you think of our artwork?

Outside Maths

Today it is such a sunny and warm day that we decided to do our maths outside!

It was great fun and we showed lots of clever thinking skills.  We showed the St Albans Values by having fun, showing excellence and being respectful to the other children working in their classes.

We found numbers on the new number grid that is painted outside our classroom.
We discovered that there are patterns to numbers and when we all stood on a number four we were all in two rows.  The same happened no matter what number we stood on.

Next we had a turn at writing numbers and number stories with some chalk.

Have a look at how clever we are.

"It was fun writing number stories and I wrote some number stories all the way up to 25," said Ava.
"It was so much fun to write some numbers outside," said Rachel.
"I loved writing the numbers," said Kai Ying.
"I loved it doing maths outside.  I knew how to write lots of numbers," said Tane.
"That was great work and I nearly counted up to 21," said Ollie.
