Today we had great fun as we started our Dr Seuss fun!
We started the day reading Yertle the Turtle. We thought this was a funny story but also felt a bit sad that Yertle was so unkind to the other turtles - we were pleased that he learned from his mistakes and became a kind king.
We wrote fantastic stories about Yertle the Turtle. We would love you to come and read them :)
During reading time we made our own Yertle the Turtle turtle ladders. We had to listen carefully to the instructions and then colour and cut the turtles really carefully and then glue them on our paper correctly - this was a lot to remember and we did a fantastic job! Have a look on our Dr Seuss wall at school to see our excellent work.
After lunch we read Red Fish, Blue Fish. We loved all the crazy characters that Dr Seuss invented in this book. They all had funny rhyming names and we giggled at some of the crazy names!
Then we drew our own crazy character and invented our own Dr Seuss name for our character. We noticed that Dr Seuss often only uses one colour along with black outlines when he draws characters so we tried to do the same.
When we shared our art work with the class we thought of a funny rhyming sentence to go with our crazy character!
I was really excited to see the children reading Dr Seuss books at every chance they had today too!
I love how much fun you all have with learning! I wish I was 5 again......you're awesome Mrs P!
