Words of Encouragement

Teaching five year olds is such a great, rewarding and fun job....today my lovely Room 10 were very kind to each other and I loved listening to some of the great things they had to say to each other....and love that such young children can teach us all so much.

Here are some of the lovely things I heard today

"I read like a Champion"   Imogen

"Ollie, you read like the wind"  Ava

"Wow, Max, that is amazing writing"   Josh

"I did really great writing today" Rachel

"Mrs Pelham, Jarod just did amazing reading"   Tane

"Imogen rubbed my back and made me feel better when I was sad" Rachel

"I love your helicopter Charlotte B"  Max

"Lily is such a little star"  Ava

"Thank you for helping me cut my helicopter out, you are such a kind friend"  Ollie to Charlotte D

"I really like my friends" Kai Ying

Thank you for being you Room 10 children, you are all truly precious and make me smile every day

Charlotte the teacher

Today Charlotte brought along a book from home.
She read it to our class.
She did a great job.

Sushi Lolly Cake

It is nearly time for the MONSTER FAIR....we are so excited!

Today we made Sushi Lolly Cake with Josh's Mum.  It was so much fun and we were super cooks....we can't wait to buy some at the fair now!

Spot the teacher!

Yesterday at reading time I asked Ava and Ollie to read together and record themselves on the ipad.  I loved listening to this video clip.  It shows what a super reader Ollie is and also what a wonderful, caring and encouraging person Ava is.

Have a listen and see if you smile as much as I did.

Assembly Awards

Congratulations to Rachel who received an award in assembly for the amazing progress she is making in reading and writing.  Rachel writes fantastic stories that are super long and she reads with great expression. Rachel, you are a super star.

Ethan got his award for the huge effort he puts into all of his learning.  He shows the St Albans values in all that he does and he is an excited learner.  Keep up the great work Ethan.

Rory's very own Picasso

Today Rory brought along a Picasso picture that his parents bought in a special Picasso art museum in Paris. This picture hangs on Rory's bedroom wall. It is similar to A Handful of Flowers that we studied.

Thanks for sharing with us Rory.

Maths Thinking

We have been learning how to make number sentences at maths time.

Today we worked with a partner and took turns at being the teacher.
We used the tens frames to help us write number stories.

We are very good at being able to explain our thinking and we use maths words really well too.

Here are some of us working together.

Charlotte's lovely idea

Today at reading time I was very excited because Charlotte D came to me and asked me to take a photo of her and put it on the blog.

This is what she wanted to say

"I had my penguin and then I had two cardigans, one was Kacie's and one was mine.  We had a little basket and we made a snuggly bed for my penguin."
